Chelsea’s first choice signing is top 24-year-old striker – report
Chelsea are still hoping to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, according to reports
Chelsea’s first-choice attacking signing this summer is still Alvaro Morata, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is claiming that the 24-year-old Spaniard remains as the west London club’s top target this summer as Antonio Conte looks to beef up his attacking options ahead of next season.
The report states that Morata is considered to be Chelsea’s “first choice” striking target this summer ahead of the new campaign.
Of course, Chelsea had been thought to be keen to bring Everton striker Romelu Lukaku to the club but hopes of that deal going through ended when Manchester United concluded a deal for the striker on Monday.
Morata had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but their signing of Lukaku could have opened the door for the Blues to land the Spain international, who was also linked with Chelsea last summer.
The 24-year-old’s future has been a relentless source of speculation this summer due to his lack of playing time at Real Madrid last season.
The striker is thought to be keen on a move away from Madrid in order to hold down a regular playing spot in the season leading up to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
