Chelsea make move to sign top 24-year-old striker – report
Chelsea have made a move to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid but he could cost £70m, say reports in Italy
Chelsea have made a move to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid after missing out on Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to reports.
Sky Sports quotes its sister company in Italy as saying that the Blues have made an official move to try to sign the 24-year-old striker.
The same report states that Morata is “keen” on a transfer to the Premier League after having previously been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.
The story also says that Real Madrid value Morata at around £70m but manager Zinedine Zidane wants to keep him at the club beyond the summer.
Morata’s future has been a relentless source of speculation this summer, with Manchester United thought to be his most likely destination.
However, the Red Devils’ move to sign Lukaku from Everton leaves it looking unlikely that they will try to land Morata as well.
The Spanish striker is thought to be keen on a move away from Real Madrid as he looks to hold down some regular playing time ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
