Chelsea to make £70m bid for top striker after Lukaku failure – report
Chelsea are to launch a £70m bid to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, say reports in Spain
Chelsea are to launch a £70m bid to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid after missing out on the signature of Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish sports newspaper AS is reporting that the Blues are ready to make an official bid to bring the 24-year-old striker to Stamford Bridge this summer after their failure to re-sign Lukaku.
The Belgian forward opted against a move back to Stamford Bridge and instead chose to sign for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United side and become the Red Devils’ second summer acquisition.
Now, reports in Spain suggest that Chelsea have turned their attentions towards signing Morata, who had been heavily linked with Manchester United before the Red Devils snapped up Lukaku.
The same story claims that Chelsea now looks like Morata’s most likely destination this summer as he looks to leave Real Madrid in search of regular playing time before the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The article says Chelsea are ready to make a €80m (£70m) bid to sign Morata in the next few days as the Blues look to secure their third signing of the summer.
Antonio Rudiger became the Blues’ second recruit of the summer of Sunday as the west London club moved to bolster their defensive options.
