Antonio Conte has warned his Chelsea team that they face a daunting task in trying to defend their Premier League title next season.

The Italian had an instant impact at Stamford Bridge after he was appointed as the club’s new manager last summer.

Conte led the west London side to the Premier League title in impressive fashion, as the Blues won a record 30 games on their way to the title.

However, Conte will need no reminding of the disastrous drop in form which occurred after their 2014-15 title triumph, as they slumped to a 10th placed finish in the 2015-16 campaign.

And Conte has warned his players that they will need to step their game up if they are to have any hope of retaining the title next term.

Speaking to Sky Sports News on Friday morning, Conte said: “For sure, in England next season it will be a great challenge for all of the top teams.

“We won the title last season. We know very well what happened in the last two years in England, with Leicester and Chelsea before. For this reason, we must pay great attention.”

Chelsea missed out on the chance to win a domestic double last season when they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the FA Cup final back in May.

The west London side are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season after missing out on a spot last term.
