Chelsea still want to sign one of two proven Premier League stars – report
Chelsea are keen on signing Christian Benteke or Fernando Llorente as back-up strikers, say reports
Chelsea are still keen to sign either Christian Benteke or Fernando Llorente as a back-up striker this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent is reporting that the Blues are keen to bring in another attacker this summer after they confirmed the arrival of Alvaro Morata on a five-year contract from Real Madrid on Friday.
The same story claims that Spanish striker Llorente is Chelsea’s “main” target for a new striker this summer as Antonio Conte looks to further bolster his squad ahead of his second season in charge.
However, the article claims that Swansea would demand a large fee for the forward if they are going to sell him this summer.
The article also says that Benteke has been a long-term target of Chelsea and although he would be interested in a switch from Crystal Palace, he would be reluctant to move into a situation in which he would be second-choice in the lead-up to next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
The story adds that Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi is expected to leave Chelsea on loan this summer.
