Chelsea want to sign talented 19-year-old star, confirms journalist
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth confirms Chelsea want to sign Bayern Munich teenager Renato Sanches this summer
Chelsea are interested in signing Bayern Munich teenager Renato Sanches, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Portugal international has been made available to sign on loan by the Bundesliga champions after Sanches struggled in his first season in Germany.
Manchester United were thought to be heading Premier League interest in the promising 19-year-old midfielder in the summer transfer window.
However, Chelsea have now emerged as potential contenders to sign the former Benfica midfielder as Antonio Conte looks to improve his squad depth ahead of a return to the Champions League.
The Premier League champions have already signed four players in the summer transfer window, including AS Monaco defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in a £39m deal.
But Serbia international Nemanja Matic could be set to leave the west London club amid interest from their title rivals Manchester United.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth confirmed that Chelsea are looking to secure a deal to sign Sanches but face competition from Serie A giants AC Milan.
“Let’s go to Chelsea – they’re interested in the Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches,” Sheth told Sky Sports News on Friday morning.
“The Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that Antonio Conte asked Carlo Ancelotti about the player. Rummenigge also said that Sanches would not be sold – but they would consider a loan.
“AC Milan remain favourites – they are Sanches’ preferred destination and the Italian club have been negotiating for the past month. No doubt, Chelsea want additions.”
