Chelsea are set to make a £62m bid to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the Blues are set to switch their focus to signing the 24-year-old Real Madrid star after they missed out on landing Romelu Lukaku following the Belgian’s move to Manchester United.

The same story claims that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is “desperate” to secure a deal for Morata as he looks to bolster his attacking options at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.

However, the story also suggests that Chelsea are set to face a battle to sign Morata because Real Madrid are not under any pressure to sell the Spain international this summer.

The article explains that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane would be keen for Morata to stay at The Bernabeu beyond the summer transfer window.

The story also says that Diego Costa is likely to leave Chelsea this summer and secure a return to Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea are likely to be keen to bolster their attacking options this summer ahead of their return to the Champions League next season.
