Chelsea aren’t close to completing deal to sign Arsenal star – report
Chelsea aren't close to completing a deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal, according to reports
Chelsea are a long way off from completing a deal to sign Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to reports in England.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Premier League champions are interested in the England international as an option to compete with Victor Moses at wing-back.
However, the same article reveals that contrary to recent reports, Chelsea aren’t in advanced discussions about a deal to sign the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window.
According to the story, Arsenal would not be willing to sell the England international to their bitter rivals this summer despite growing uncertainty surrounding Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future.
The former Southampton star has less than 12 months remaining on his current Arsenal contract and has attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester City.
Arsenal have signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 and spent a club-record fee on Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in the summer transfer window so far.
The Gunners finished in fifth place behind Liverpool in the Premier League last season to miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League.
