Reporter claims Chelsea will launch bid to sign Arsenal star this week
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol reveals Chelsea are ready to make a move to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal
Chelsea will press ahead with a move to sign Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this week, Kaveh Solhekol has revealed.
The England international is facing an uncertain future at the north London club with less than 12 months remaining on his current contract.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has failed to agree a new deal with the FA Cup holders despite featuring on a regular basis in the 2016-17 season.
However, the 23-year-old is thought to be unhappy with a lack of starting opportunities at the Emirates Stadium.
Liverpool were initially thought to be heading Premier League international in the versatile England midfielder in the summer transfer window.
But Premier League champions Chelsea are now being linked with a swoop to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain, who will be available on a free transfer next summer.
And Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol has claimed that Chelsea will make an offer to sign the Arsenal star this week as Antonio Conte looks to make a fifth signing.
“Arsene Wenger says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not going anywhere. He’s got 12 months left on his contract,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Monday morning.
“We are told Chelsea will make their move for him this week and that Liverpool are also interested. Oxlade-Chamberlain says if he leaves Arsenal, it would not be because of money.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain scored two goals and made seven assists in 16 starts and 13 substitute appearances in the Premier League last season.
Chelsea have signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window so far.
