New Chelsea signing better than Man United striker Romelu Lukaku, claims reporter
New Chelsea signing Alvaro Morata is a better addition than Romelu Lukaku, according to ESPN FC reporter Juliens Laurens
Chelsea have signed a better striker in the shape of Alvaro Morata than Manchester United recruit Romelu Lukaku, according to Juliens Laurens.
The Premier League champions completed a big-money deal to sign the Spain international from Champions League holders Real Madrid last week.
Morata wasn’t initially believed to be Chelsea’s first-choice striker signing this summer after the English title winners were previously linked with a deal to re-sign Lukaku.
However, Manchester United completed a surprise transfer swoop to sign the Belgium international in a £75m deal ahead of their title rivals.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is a known admirer of Morata after the Italian masterminded a deal to sign the striker during his spell at Juventus before taking over the reins of the Italian national team.
Speaking to ESPN FC about Morata’s move to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window, reporter Laurens claimed that the 24-year-old is a better option for Chelsea than Lukaku.
“I’m a big Morata fan. I love the touch. He has a much better touch than Lukaku,” Laurens said.
“I love his movement off the ball. He would be a wonderful signing for Chelsea.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title in their first season under Conte after his appointment last summer.
