Stan Collymore has backed Chelsea’s bid to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid this summer.

The Blues confirmed that they had agreed a fee with Real Madrid to complete the signing of the 24-year-old Spain international on Wednesday evening following months of speculation about his future.

The move is still subject to Morata agreeing personal terms with the club and passing a medical.

Collymore is clearly a big fan of the Spanish forward and reckons that the Blues are set to see Morata enjoy the best years of his career at Stamford Bridge.

The former Liverpool star tweeted on Wednesday evening: “Morata. Good all rounder, holds it up well, runs channels, selfish/less in equal measure. Best is yet to come.”

Morata was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United for most of the summer but the Red Devils ended up signing Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

That, in turn, allowed Chelsea to make a move as they look to tie up their fourth signing of the summer.

Chelsea have already landed Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger so far this summer.
