Chelsea tipped to sign exciting 24-year-old striker

La Liga expert Sid Lowe believes Alvaro Morata is likely to end up at Premier League champions Chelsea this summer

Alvaro Morata’s logical move would be to Chelsea after Manchester United ended their interest in the striker, according to Sid Lowe.

The Spanish forward emerged as Manchester United’s top target in the summer transfer window after the Red Devils were forced to give up on a deal to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.

Reports in Spain suggested earlier this month that Morata had even cut his honeymoon short with wife Alice in order to get a move to Manchester United over the line.

However, in a twist of fate, the Red Devils ended their interest in the 24-year-old last month and focused their energy on signing Everton centre-forward Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has regularly been linked with a move to sign Morata since taking over the reins at Stamford Bridge back in 2016.

And La Liga expert Lowe thinks Morata is now likely to move to the Premier League champions this summer.

“On the face of it, Chelsea are the logical outcome,” Lowe told ESPN FC.

“The other outcome is he stays at Real Madrid [but that] isn’t what he wants to do.”

Morata secured a transfer back to Real Madrid from Juventus last summer in a £29m deal after impressing in Turin.

However, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane used the striker sparingly as Morata scored 15 goals in 26 appearances in La Liga.
