Insider claims Chelsea’s priority is to sign one of these two strikers
Gabriele Marcotti discusses Chelsea's interest in signing a striker this summer after missing out on Man United signing Romelu Lukaku
Chelsea’s priority is signing Andrea Belotti or Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window, according to Gabriele Marcotti.
The Premier League champions have endured a difficult summer so far after struggling to get a number of high-profile deals over the line.
The Blues were thought to be leading the race to re-sign Belgium international Romelu Lukaku from Everton this summer.
However, Manchester United managed to hijack Chelsea’s proposed deal to bring the 24-year-old back to Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Conte has already told controversial Spanish forward Diego Costa that he is free to leave the west London side this summer despite failing to recruit a replacement – so far.
Chelsea have been linked with a move to sign Borussia Dortmund’s want-away Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in recent days.
However, football insider Marcotti has claimed that Conte has placed Real Madrid’s Morata and Torino striker Belotti at the top of his wish list.
“Conte’s priority is still a striker like Morata or possibly Belotti if Chelsea can get the price down,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.
Chelsea won the Premier League title by a seven-point margin in their first season under Conte.
The Blues lost 2-1 to bitter rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley in May.
