Chelsea will have to pay £20m to sign experienced Italy star, claims insider
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth reveals Chelsea are looking to sign Inter Milan midfielder Antonio Candreva this summer
Chelsea will have to cough up £20m to sign experienced Italian midfielder Antonio Candreva, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Premier League champions have been linked with a move to sign the Italy international in the summer transfer window to add more depth to their midfield options.
Candreva worked with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte during the coach’s spell in charge of the Italian national team between 2014 and 2016.
The 30-year-old has scored six goals and has made 10 assists 38 appearances in Serie A last season following a move to Inter Milan from Lazio last summer.
The Blues manager is thought to be interested in signing the experienced midfielder to provide more depth ahead of a return to the Champions League next season.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth has revealed that Candreva is “80 per cent” likely to remain at the Serie A club despite interest from the Premier League holders.
“Another player Chelsea are looking at is the winger Antonio Candreva,” Sheth told Sky Sports News on Wednesday.
“Inter Milan value him at £20m and Candreva’s agent says there’s an 80 per cent chance that he will in fact remain at Inter Milan.”
Chelsea have signed four players in the summer transfer window so far ahead of a return to the Champions League next term.
Manchester United reserve goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
