Insider claims Chelsea will struggle to secure deal to sign Serie A attacker
ESPN reporter David Amoyal doesn't expect Chelsea to sign Inter Milan winger Antonio Candreva
Chelsea will struggle to seal a deal to sign Antonio Candreva given Inter Milan could lose Ivan Perisic this summer, according to David Amoyal.
The Premier League champions are thought to be monitoring the 30-year-old attacker in the summer transfer window as Antonio Conte looks to add more depth to his squad.
The ex-Lazio winger six times and made 10 assists in 38 appearances in Serie A last season in his first campaign at the San Siro outfit.
Candreva shares the same agent with the Chelsea boss which could help the Premier League champions’ attempts to sound out the Italian midfielder about a move.
However, Inter Milan are already facing a battle to keep Croatia international Ivan Perisic amid relentless speculation linking Manchester United with the 28-year-old.
ESPN reporter Amoyal believes the Red Devils’ pursuit of Perisic makes any deal which would see Candreva move to the Premier League champions unlikely.
“After they bolstered the defense, midfield and attack, it’s not surprising to see Chelsea pursuing wingers,” Amoyal told ESPN.
“The Blues have been linked to Candreva dating back to his time at Lazio, and he would be an ideal fit in Antonio Conte’s system as we saw in the last Euros; he also has the same agent as Chelsea’s current manager.
“But a move to the Premier League isn’t likely at this time because Inter could also lose their other starting winger, Ivan Perisic, to Manchester United, and last summer Candreva pushed to join the Nerazzurri over offers from abroad.”
Chelsea have signed Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
