Chelsea will have to pay £20m to sign Premier League striker, reveals insider
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth has warned Chelsea that Swansea City want £20m to sign Fernando Llorente
Chelsea will have to pay a fee in the region of £20m to sign Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Premier League champions are being linked with a move to sign the 32-year-old as Antonio Conte looks to add depth to his Blues squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
The Italian coach has experience of working with Llorente after the pair won the Serie A title and Supercoppa Italiana in 2013-14 before Conte left to take over the Italian national team.
Llorente impressed in his first season in the Premier League following a move to Swansea from Sevilla last summer despite being in the twilight of his career at the age of 32.
The ex-Athletic Bilbao striker scored 15 times in 33 games in the Premier League, which included a consolation goal against the English champions at Stamford Bridge.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth claimed that Chelsea will have to cough up a transfer fee worth around £20m to sign the Spain international.
“The Swansea striker Fernando Llorente is still of interest to Chelsea too,” Sheth told Sky Sports News on Friday morning.
“I’m told he would cost in the region of £20m. It should be stressed though, that at this point, no formal talks have taken place with Llorente – and he is recovering from the fractured arm which kept him out of Swansea’s pre-season tour of the United States.”
Chelsea have already made four signings in the summer transfer window after the arrivals of Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Blues have also signed Llorente’s compatriot Alvaro Morata in a £58m deal from Real Madrid earlier this month.
