Top club confirm Chelsea want to sign 19-year-old starlet
Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge reveals Chelsea boss Antonio Conte asked about signing Renato Sanches
Bayern Munich have confirmed that Chelsea are interested in signing Portuguese youngster Renato Sanches.
The Premier League champions have been linked with a move to sign the 19-year-old in the summer transfer window after Bayern Munich made the defensive midfielder available to sign on loan.
Chelsea could go head-to-head with bitter rivals Manchester United once again this summer after the Red Devils beat the west London to the £75m signing of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
The defending champions have signed a holding midfielder already this summer after Tiemoue Bakayoko arrived in a £39m deal from Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco.
Chelsea are thought to be open to selling Nemanja Matic in a £50m deal to their title rivals, which would make room for Sanches to be accommodated in the Blues squad.
And Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have now confirmed that Antonio Conte asked about Sanches following their pre-season clash earlier this week in Singapore.
“There are at least 10 teams after Sanches,” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Conte asked for some information about him after Tuesday’s match because he knows he can make the difference on the pitch.
“[Carlo] Ancelotti was pleased with his performance against Chelsea so we can make some reasoning on him later.”
He added: “Almost certainly we’ll let him leave just on loan, we still count on him.”
Bayern Munich signed Sanches in an initial £31.3m deal from Portuguese side Benfica.
