Henrikh Mkhitaryan says he is determined to prove his worth to Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho as he prepares for his second season at the club.

The Armenia international is getting ready for his second campaign at Old Trafford after signing for the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

Mkhitaryan initially struggled to make much of an impact at Old Trafford following his arrival at the club but he will be hoping to hold down a more regular spot in the first team next season.

And the playmaker has revealed that he is determined to prove his worth to both Mourinho and Manchester United’s fans next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Mkhitaryan said: “I’m always trying to help the team to achieve their dreams, I’m always trying to help the team score goals and to assist because it is very important, that’s what we are playing for.

“Of course, there will be games where you are not able to do this but you have to try to help the team and your team-mates to do that for you.

“He [Mourinho] always tries to find the best for the player and he is always looking to the players if they are working very hard and that’s what I am doing. I am working hard, I’m doing my best to show him that I am ready to play.”

Manchester United are gearing up for a return to the Champions League next season after they won the Europa League last term.

Mkhitaryan played a key role in helping Manchester United win the competition last season when he scored his side’s second goal in the 2-0 victory over Ajax in the Europa League final in Stockholm back in May.
