The French manager was handed a new two-year contract back in May after guiding the Gunners to their third FA Cup trophy in four years.
There had been relentless speculation about Wenger’s future before he penned his new contract as Arsenal struggled in the Premier League.
The north London side ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table, but Mourinho was impressed to see the Gunners issue their backing for the Frenchman.
Speaking at a news conference in LA on Friday, Mourinho said: “The way Wenger was treated, I think two more years of contract is fantastic treatment.
“That is what every manager wants, to be strong enough to make their own decisions to forget the media opinions, the pundits’ opinions and the supporters’ opinions.
“I think Mr Wenger got exactly what every manager wants. A strong club, two more years of contract and conditions to try to win titles.
“Fantastic treatment from the Arsenal board. That is what he deserves and that is what every manager wants.”
Arsenal will be looking to mount a serious title challenge next season as they look to win the Premier League for the first time since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.
The north London side will have to make do with Europa League football, however, after they ended up fifth and missed out on Champions League qualification.
