Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Andy Robertson from Hull City, according to reports in the British media.

The Guardian is reporting that talks between Liverpool and Hull are “all but completed” as Jurgen Klopp looks to beef up his defensive options ahead of his second full season in charge at Anfield.

The same story claims that Liverpool are expected to pay Hull a fee in the region of £8m for the defender as Klopp looks to land his third signing of the summer.

The left-back could go straight into the first team at Anfield next season, given that James Milner stepped into that role for most of last term.

Robertson would be Liverpool’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah.

Klopp is preparing his team for a return to the Champions League next season after the Reds finished fourth in the Premier League last term.

The Merseyside outfit are expected to bring in a number of other players before the 2017-18 campaign kicks off.
