Liverpool have had a £57m bid for Naby Keita rejected by RB Leipzig, according to reports in Germany.

German newspaper Bild, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Reds have failed with an offer to try and bring the 22-year-old to Anfield this summer.

The same report claims that Keita himself will have to “force” a move to Anfield if he wants to sign for Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead of next season.

It is also claimed that Liverpool have no intention of giving up their chase of the 22-year-old midfielder as Klopp looks to bolster his squad ahead of next term.

The story suggests that Keita himself is “keen” to move to Liverpool despite Leipzig having stated that the player is not for sale this summer.

Reds boss Klopp is thought to be a keen admirer of the Guinea international as he prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.

Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League in Klopp’s first full season in charge at the Merseyside club.
