Dietmar Hamann has urged Liverpool to spend big on signing Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer.

The Reds have been linked with a big-money bid to land the 22-year-old Guinea international this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

However, the German club are thought to be reluctant to sell Keita this summer and it could mean that Liverpool would have to pay a big price to land him.

Hamann is clearly a keen admirer of Keita and says he would love to see the Reds spend big on signing him this summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Hamann said: “He’s a class player.

“He links up very, very well. He can play the holding role and the role a bit further forward, which I think is his better position.

“Last season he scored goals and set goals up. He’s a very capable player.

“Is £70m too much? If it’s market value, I think we’ve got to get away from people saying a player isn’t worth it, that’s what the prices are like now and that’s it.”

Liverpool have been linked with a host of players so far this summer but have only concluded deals to land Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke.

The Reds are likely to be keen to significantly bolster their squad this summer as they prepare for a return to the Champions League following their fourth-placed finish last season.
