New Liverpool signing sends message to fans about Jurgen Klopp
New Liverpool signing Andy Robertson is looking forward to playing under Jurgen Klopp next season
Andy Robertson admits he is relishing the prospect of playing under Liverpool’s “passionate” manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Scotland international became Liverpool’s third summer signing on Friday after Robertson completed an £8m move to Anfield from relegated club Hull City.
Robertson will be tasked with competing against retired England international James Milner and former Sevilla defender Moreno for the left-back spot at Anfield.
The 23-year-old scored one goal and made two assists in 33 appearances in the Premier League last term in what was a difficult season for the Tigers.
Robertson, though, is excited for a fresh start under the former Borussia Dortmund coach as Liverpool look to cement their top-four status in the 2017-18 campaign.
Speaking to the club’s website about the role Klopp played in his transfer to the Anfield outfit, Liverpool’s new No26 said:
“Everyone can see just from watching him on the sidelines that he’s so passionate and he gives the fans a lift and the players a lift.
“That’s a manager you want to play under and I’m no different to that, I like being passionate and trying to get everyone going.
“I want to play under him and I’m sure we’ll get on well and I’m looking forward to meeting him first and then playing under him.
“The start of the season’s not far away, so I’m hoping to settle in as quickly as possible with the manager and the players.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in Klopp’s first full season in charge of the Merseyside outfit to secure a return to the Champions League.
The Reds have signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah and Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke in the summer transfer window so far.
