Jurgen Klopp sends message to Liverpool fans about ‘outstanding’ new signing
Jurgen Klopp lifts the lid on his decision to sign Andy Robertson from Hull City for Liverpool this summer
Jurgen Klopp has hailed Andy Robertson’s “outstanding” attitude after he became Liverpool’s third signing of the summer on Friday.
The Reds confirmed that they had agreed a deal to sign the Scottish defender from Hull City after days of speculation linking the 23-year-old with a move to Anfield.
Robertson became Liverpool’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah.
And Klopp, who is preparing his team for a return to the Champions League next season, has been delighted by what he has seen from Robertson so far.
“For Andrew this is another big step on what has been a quite incredible personal journey in a very short space of time,” Anfield boss Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I love his story; where he has come from professionally to reach this point.
“When you speak to him it is clear why he makes his progress. He has a burning love for playing football – he really loves the game.
“His attitude is outstanding – absolutely outstanding. His talent and skills – also very, very good.
“He has experience of this competition, the Premier League, and he has the mentality and quality to get even better.
“I know our environment will benefit him and help him push himself even more than he has already. This is a player who does not limit his ambition, I think.”
Liverpool are still thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Klopp prepares for his second full season in charge at Anfield.
The Reds will be keen to add further depth to their squad as they prepare to try to compete on four fronts next season.
