Michael Owen has warned Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool still have plenty of work to do in the summer transfer window ahead of next season.

The Reds are thought to be on the lookout for significant reinforcements this summer as Klopp prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.

The Merseyside outfit have been relatively active in the transfer window so far but have only concluded deals for winger Mohamed Salah and striker Dominic Solanke as of yet.

The Reds are being heavily linked with a bid to sign midfielder Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, as well as a number of other players.

Former Liverpool striker Owen feels that the Reds still need a number of new signings this summer and reckons Keita would be a brilliant addition.

Speaking in an interview with Metro, Owen said: “I think Liverpool need to strengthen. They weren’t in Europe last season so they’ve got an extra lump of games to contend with now.

“A bigger squad and a bit of depth would help Jurgen greatly. They’ve already signed Salah which is a good signing.

“If they could get Keita then that would be amazing because he was brilliant for RB Leipzig last season.

“There’s certainly one or two positions Jurgen will still be hoping to strengthen.”

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League last season as they secured a return to the Champions League in Klopp’s first full campaign in charge at Anfield.

The Reds will be hoping to mount a serious Premier League title challenge next season.
