Jurgen Klopp sends message to Liverpool fans about his transfer plans
Jurgen Klopp insists that he is happy with his current group of players at Liverpool despite being on the lookout for more signings
Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he is happy with his current group of players at Liverpool but says the Reds are still on the lookout for more new signings this summer.
The Reds have signed three players so far this summer as Klopp prepares for his second full season in charge at Anfield.
Andy Robertson became their third recruit ahead of next season on Friday as he followed both Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah to the Merseyside club.
However, Liverpool are inevitably still being linked with a host of Europe’s top players as they look to build on their fourth-placed finish next season.
Naby Kieta is one name to have regularly been linked with a possible move to Anfield from RB Leipzig this summer.
However, Klopp has suggested that he is currently happy with his squad as he prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Mirror, Klopp said: “There is nothing I can say [Liverpool’s transfer plans] that will help, so why should I say anything?
“We are interested in a lot of players around the world, as you can imagine, but at this moment I am working with the players I already have.
“That’s my job in the first place. I don’t go into training thinking ‘oh my God, is it still them?’ Nobody thinks anymore about the development and improvement of the players you already have.
“It’s all about signings. It’s all about the transfer market. I understand that’s an important part of the year, but if you can’t do the first job then you would have a real problem.
“I am fine so far. We are still looking, of course, but I think we can play better football than last season with the team we already have.”
Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League last season behind Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City.
