Jamie Carragher makes prediction about Liverpool signing 22-year-old
Jamie Carragher reckons that Liverpool are likely to wait until next summer before signing Naby Keita from Juventus
Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool are likely to wait until next summer before signing Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a move to sign the 22-year-old Guinea international from the German club this summer, but a move has not yet materialised.
RB Leipzig have publicly insisted that Keita is not for sale this summer and it is thought that Liverpool are going to struggle to be able to convince the Bundesliga side to sell this summer.
And former Liverpool defender Carragher feels that the Reds are likely to wait until next summer before making another bid to try and sign Keita from the German side.
Carragher told 5times.co.uk, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo: “I think Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in quality rather than quantity, which is something that I’m personally happy with too.
“Regarding Keita, I don’t think that Klopp will go out and buy another midfielder.
“I think he would be willing to wait until next season as supposedly Keita has a buyout clause.”
Liverpool have signed three players so far this summer, after having wrapped up deals to bring in Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Dominic Solanke.
The Reds are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season after having finished fourth in the Premier League last term.
