Journalist claims Liverpool’s deal to sign top 22-year-old is getting closer
Liverpool have been offered hope in their apparent bid to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, according to reporter Chris Williams
Liverpool’s proposed move to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer could be a “formality”, according to journalist Chris Williams.
There were reports last week that the Reds had failed with a bid of around £57m to lure the midfielder to Anfield this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
The German club have been widely reported to not want to sell the midfielder this summer as the transfer saga rumbles on.
Now, however, reporter Williams claims that some sources within the German club are resigned to the player leaving and signing for Liverpool this summer.
Writing on Twitter on Thursday night, Williams said: “Reports from Germany that Keita is desperate to move Liverpool but RB Leipzig will not move on their ‘not for sale’ stance.
“From sources privately within RB Leipzig the club may deal at an improved figure. Balance in favour of a LFC move has tipped.”
“It could be a ‘formality’ now that Keita moves to Liverpool during this window according to some within the German club.
Liverpool have already confirmed the signings of striker Dominic Solanke and winger Mohamed Salah this summer as Klopp prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
The Reds finished fourth in the table last term and will be hoping to mount a serious Premier League title challenge next season, as well as making a mark in the Champions League.
