Jurgen Klopp jokes about €300m Liverpool transfer bid for 22-year-old star
Jurgen Klopp jokes that Liverpool could make a €300m bid to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer
Jurgen Klopp has joked that Liverpool could make a €300m bid to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 22-year-old Guinea international as Klopp looks to bolster his midfield options at Anfield.
However, it seems that the Reds will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements after RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl insisted on Saturday that Keita is not for sale.
However, Klopp was clearly in a jokey mood when quizzed about the latest news on Keita.
Asked by Sky Deutschland about another possible bid to sign Keita from Leipzig, Klopp replied: “Then we’ll make a €300m [£268m] offer for Keita!”
Liverpool are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season after the Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term.
The Reds have made three signings so far this summer – striker Dominic Solanke, winger Mohamed Salah and defender Andy Robertson.
Klopp is likely to want to further bolster his squad as the Reds prepare for a return to Europe’s elite club competition.
