Liverpool are working hard to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window, according to Danny Murphy
Liverpool are trying “desperately hard” to bring in the right new players this summer, according to Danny Murphy.
The Reds have inevitably been linked with a host of players throughout the summer, but Jurgen Klopp has thus far only been able to bring in striker Dominic Solanke and winger Mohamed Salah.
Klopp is likely to be keen to significantly strengthen his squad this summer as he prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
Despite Liverpool having made a relatively slow start to the transfer window, former midfielder Murphy says he is sure that the Reds are working very hard behind the scenes.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday, Murphy said: “My understanding is that they are trying desperately hard to improve the squad and they are willing to put quite a few pounds behind that.
“He is not a stupid man, Klopp. He has seen now everything that he has got and what he needs.”
Klopp is preparing his team for a return to the Champions League next season after he led the Reds to a fourth-placed finish in his first full campaign in charge at Anfield.
The Reds will be hoping to make a mark on Europe’s elite club competition while also challenging for the Premier League title next season.
