Journalist provides latest update on Liverpool’s bid to sign top 22-year-old star
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol provides an update on reports Liverpool want to sign Naby Keita this summer
Naby Keita wants to join Liverpool this summer but the RB Leipzig midfielder still hasn’t submitted a formal transfer request, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Guinea international has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool over the past couple of months but the Reds have struggled to get a deal over the line.
The Merseyside outfit have already failed with two offers to sign the African midfielder in the summer transfer window so far as RB Leipzig maintain the 22-year-old won’t be sold.
Liverpool are thought to be considering a £72m offer for Keita despite the Bundesliga star having a £48m contract release clause which will be activated next summer.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol revealed the big question is whether Keita will try to force through a move to Liverpool and hand in a formal transfer request to RB Leipzig.
“Could Naby Keita be coming into Anfield? Our latest information is that RB Leipzig are totally adamant that he will not be sold this summer,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Monday morning.
“They’ve already turned down two Liverpool bids. The second one was £66m. Keita wants to move to Liverpool.
“The big question now is, will he hand in a formal transfer request? Liverpool have the option of waiting until next summer when they can activate his release clause. That is £48m.”
Liverpool have signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson in the summer transfer window so far.
The Reds finished in fourth place in Klopp’s first full season in charge of the Anfield outfit.
