Jurgen Klopp tells Liverpool fans key star feels ‘comfortable’ despite Barcelona link
The Liverpool manager is relaxed about Philippe Coutinho's future despite reports of interest from Barcelona
Jurgen Klopp has reiterated that Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho feels comfortable at Liverpool.
The Brazil international continues to be linked with a move to the Spanish giants in the summer transfer window given uncertainty about Neymar’s future at Camp Nou.
Coutinho has been regularly named as a potential Barcelona signing since his Liverpool team-mate Luis Suarez completed a £65m switch to the Catalan side in 2014.
The 24-year-old scored 13 goals and made seven assists in the Premier League last season to help Liverpool finish in the top four and secure a return to the Champions League.
Coutinho will be hoping to have more of an impact in his second season in Europe’s premier club competition as a Reds player.
Speaking to the media about the Liverpool number 10’s future after their 2-1 win against Leicester City in the Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong on Saturday, Klopp said:
“Everyone knows that Phil Coutinho is a key player for us. I know that he feels completely more than fine, comfortable – whatever – in Liverpool. He loves the club.
“That he’s able to arrive tonight in a very difficult moment of the preseason after all these sessions is good to see. That shows his big potential.”
Coutinho set up Liverpool signing Mohamed Salah to equalise against Leicester before scoring a sensational winner to secure their first pre-season trophy this summer.
