Jordan Henderson sends message to Liverpool fans about summer transfers
The Liverpool captain is relaxed about a lack of signings in the summer transfer window
Jordan Henderson insists Liverpool don’t need to make any more signings before the start of the new season.
The Reds have made three additions in the summer transfer window so far but have been left frustrated in their pursuit of RB Leipzig star Naby Keita and Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool started their summer spending with the club-record £36.7m signing of Mohamed Salah from Serie A giants AS Roma earlier this month to bolster their attacking options in wide areas.
The Merseyside out have also brought in England Under-20 international Dominic Solanke in a free transfer from Premier League champions Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp addressed their perceived weakness at left-back with the £8m addition of Scottish defender Andy Robertson from relegated Hull City last week.
RB Leipzig and Southampton have both been emphatic in stating that Keita and Van Dijk won’t be sold this summer, despite Liverpool’s efforts to bring in what would be two impressive recruits.
However, Liverpool captain Henderson is adamant that the Merseyside club are in good shape ahead of a return to the Champions League.
“Whether he brings in new players or not, I feel as though he has a lot of confidence in us and that transcends into how we play,” Henderson told LFCTV Go.
“Individually, if you go through the team last year, I feel everyone improved and that is specifically down to the manager.
“Hopefully we can keep improving. If we do bring in new players, great, because that will strengthen the squad.
“We have a lot good players but you need that when you are going into a season with a lot of games. You need that competition and people fighting for places.”
