Arsenal and Liverpool have both contacted Real Madrid about the possibility of signing Marco Asensio, according to reports in the English media.

Don Balon, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that both the Premier League clubs have reached out to Real Madrid in an attempt to conjure a deal to sign the Spain international in the summer transfer window.

The same article states that the English duo will face competition from Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus for the 21-year-old’s signature.

However, Arsenal and Liverpool could find it difficult to convince Asensio to leave Real Madrid with the attacking midfielder prepared to battle for a first-team spot despite a lack of opportunities last term.

Asensio scored three goals and made two assists in 23 appearances in La Liga last season, although the playmaker only started 11 times in their title-winning campaign.

The promising Spanish starlet scored his biggest goal of his Real Madrid career so far in the Champions League final as los Blancos eased to a 4-1 win against Juventus in Cardiff.
