Liverpool tight-lipped on reports of £57m bid for top 22-year-old – report
Liverpool refuse to confirm whether a £57m bid has been made for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, according to Aidan Magee
Liverpool have refused to confirm or deny whether a £57m bid has been submitted for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, Aidan Magee has revealed.
The Premier League side are reported to be interested in a move to sign the Guinea international from the Bundesliga runners-up in the summer transfer window.
The German club have been defiant in their stance that Keita won’t be sold for less than £70m this summer despite the midfielder having a £48m release clause that will be activated next summer.
The versatile midfielder has already admitted that Liverpool were one of a number of clubs interested in the African star last summer.
However, Sky Sports News reporter Magee has claimed that RB Leipzig have rejected Liverpool’s club-record offer to sign Keita.
“According to reports in Germany, Liverpool have had a £57m bid rejected by RB Leipzig for midfielder Naby Keita,” Magee told Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning.
“Liverpool have made no comment on this. Earlier this month, we reported that Liverpool were interest in the player but that the German club were adamant he would not be sold.”
Keita moved to RB Leipzig in a £12.75m deal from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old midfielder has scored eight goals and has made seven assists in 31 appearances in Bundesliga last season.
Keita earned a reputation as one of the most-exciting prospects in the German top flight last term.
