Liverpool set £89m asking price for key star – report
Liverpool want £89m for Brazil international Philippe Coutinho amid interest from Barcelona, according to reports in Spain
Liverpool have warned Barcelona that Philippe Coutinho will cost £89m this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that the Reds value their prized asset at £89m as Liverpool prepare for an improved Barcelona offer.
The same article states that Barcelona are ready to step up their interest in the South American playmaker ahead of the start of the 2017-18 season.
The Spanish media outlet claims that the Catalan side are hoping to set up a meeting with representatives of both Coutinho and Liverpool.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he is relaxed about Coutinho’s future despite reports of interest from the La Liga giants.
Coutinho netted 13 times and made seven assists in the Premier League last season to help the Merseyside outfit secure a return to the Champions League.
The 25-year-old scored seven times and made two goals in his final 10 games of the 2016-17 season to help Liverpool get over the line in the top-four race.
Coutinho moved to Liverpool in an £8.5m deal from Serie A giants Inter Milan in the 2013 January transfer window.
