Michael Owen is tipping Romelu Lukaku to score more than 20 goals for Manchester United next season.

The Belgian striker became the Red Devils’ second signing of the summer last week when he sealed a deal to move to Old Trafford from Everton, despite having been linked with Chelsea for much of the summer.

Lukaku was in fine form for Everton and hit 25 goals in the Premier League for the Merseyside outfit last season.

Manchester United relied heavily upon Zlatan Ibrahimovic last term but will be hoping that Lukaku can step up and produce the number of goals needed to fire the Red Devils to a serious Premier League title challenge.

And former Red Devils striker Owen is tipping Lukaku to be an instant hit at Old Trafford following his move to the club last week.

Speaking to Metro, Owen said: “He’ll be playing in a team that will create a lot of chances and he’s a top player so it’s inevitable he’s going to score goals.

“The only question is how good can he be? Could he become a top United player for years to come? I fully expect him to score more than 20 goals a season so it’s just a matter of how well he can do.”

Manchester United will be hoping to mount a serious Premier League title challenge next season after the Red Devils finished in a disappointing sixth place in the Premier League.

However, the Red Devils will make a return to the Champions League next season after having won the Europa League last term.
