Man United considering late move to sign Premier League star – report
Manchester United would consider a late bid for Ross Barkley but need Everton to lower their asking price, say reports
Manchester United are monitoring Ross Barkley’s situation at Everton with a view to a possible late bid to sign the midfielder, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on Barkley’s situation at Goodison Park as they ponder making a move for the England international.
The same report claims that Jose Mourinho “admires” Barkley but also points to the fact that the Portuguese coach has more urgent priorities in this summer’s transfer window.
The story claims that Everton would demand a fee of around £50m for the England midfielder and that both Chelsea and Tottenham have been put off by the demands.
It is claimed that Manchester United will consider a bid for Barkley but only if the asking price drops below £20m.
The article also says that Tottenham do not want to pay over the odds for the 23-year-old in terms of both a fee and salary.
Barkley is said to have already turned down the offer of a £110,000-a-week contract from Everton – and that has further discouraged Spurs.
