Jose Mourinho sends message to Man United fans about third and fourth signings
Jose Mourinho admits that Manchester United may have to settle for making just three signings this summer
Jose Mourinho has admitted that Manchester United may have to settle for making just one more signing in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have inevitably been linked with a host of players this summer as Mourinho gears up for his second season in charge at Old Trafford.
However, despite all of the relentless speculation, the Red Devils have so far only tied up deals to land striker Romelu Lukaku and defender Victor Lindelof.
Manchester United continue to be linked with moves for a number of attackers and holding midfielders, such as Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic and Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic.
But although Mourinho admits that it was always Manchester United’s intention to sign four new players this summer, he concedes that the Red Devils may have to settle for just three because of how the market has panned out.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN FC, Mourinho said: “What I will say is that, a long time ago, we thought about four players to strengthen our squad, but it is really hard to do it.
“If we do the third and forget the fourth, I would be quite happy with that because I know it is difficult.”
Mourinho is currently preparing for his second campaign in charge at Old Trafford as the Red Devils gear up for a return to the Champions League next season.
