Carlo Ancelotti is backing Liverpool and Manchester United to be in top form in the Champions League next season
Carlo Ancelotti is backing Liverpool and Manchester United to enjoy successful runs in the Champions League next season.
The Reds are set to make a return to Europe’s elite club competition after they finished fourth last season under Jurgen Klopp.
Manchester United are also set to join Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League next season.
And former Chelsea manager Ancelotti is tipping all of the English sides to be forces to be reckoned with in Europe’s elite club competition next term.
Ancelotti is quoted as saying by Metro: “The last period in the Champions League, the Premier League teams had problems, but this year I think they have really good teams in the competition.
“Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City — I think with these teams the Champions League will be really more competitive.
“There was a period when the English teams did not do well in the competition but it was only a period. I think it’s finished.”
Chelsea are also set to return to Europe’s elite club competition next term after Antonio Conte led the west London side to Premier League glory last season.
Manchester United will be hoping to challenge for honours on four fronts next term as they look to win the Premier League for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.
