Antonio Conte sends message to Chelsea fans about Man United
Antonio Conte warns Chelsea that Manchester City and Manchester United will both be much stronger next season
Antonio Conte has revealed that he had no choice but to significantly strengthen his Chelsea squad this summer because of the transfers the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City have been making.
The Blues completed their fourth signing of the summer on Friday when they tied up a deal to bring in striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
Manchester United have so far signed Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku as Jose Mourinho prepares for his second season in charge at the club.
Manchester City, meanwhile, have also been busy, signing Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Douglas Luiz and Danilo so far this summer.
And Conte, who says he still wants to sign one more player this summer, has warned his Chelsea side that the Premier League will be more competitive than ever next season as the look to try and defend their top-flight title.
Conte is quoted as saying by Metro: “This season the target is the same but it won’t be easy, because you can see Man City, Man United, the other teams as well are trying to reinforce and we are changing a lot.
“[We wanted signings] more from necessity, not because I wanted to change.”
Chelsea won the Premier League in Conte’s first campaign in charge but missed out on the FA Cup after they were beaten by Arsenal in the final back in May.
