Henrikh Mkhitaryan makes exciting promise to Man United fans
The Manchester United midfielder says his best is yet to come ahead of his second season in the Premier League
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has promised Manchester United that his best performances are yet to come ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
The Armenia international was one of Jose Mourinho’s first signings as Manchester United manager following his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
Mkhitaryan made a slow start to life at Old Trafford last term after the Manchester United midfielder struggled to secure a place in Mourinho’s starting line-up.
However, the 28-year-old came into his own in the second half of the season and finished with four goals and one assist in 19 appearances in the Premier League.
The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder scored crucial goals in Manchester United’s run to the Europa League final before the attacking midfielder netted in a 2-0 win against Ajax in the European showpiece.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website about the 2017-18 campaign, Mkhitaryan promised fans that he will be even better in his second season at Old Trafford.
“Yes, I am sure the best is still to come and I am looking forward to it because I know that we can do better and I can do better,” Mkhitaryan told the club’s website.
“So we are going to keep working very hard and try to achieve our goals. I am feeling good. Scoring goals in pre-season is not the main thing I am thinking about. It is more about getting ready and being in good shape. That is the most important thing. I also want to keep my goals for the new season.”
Mkhitaryan moved to Manchester United in a £30m deal from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The Armenian midfielder won the EFL Cup and the Europa League in his first season at Old Trafford.
