Javier Hernandez has admitted that he is already looking forward to lining up at Old Trafford when West Ham play Manchester United next season.

The Mexico international signed for the Hammers from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this week in a deal believed to be worth around £16m on a three-year contract.

The former Manchester United striker was sold by former manager Louis van Gaal back in August 2015 despite playing a part in much of the Red Devils’ success under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Hernandez scored 59 goals in 156 appearances for Manchester United before he was sold to the German club two summers ago.

And the 29-year-old, who is Mexico’s all-time leading goal-scorer, admits that he is already looking forward to lining up for West Ham against his former club at Old Trafford on the first weekend of next season.

Hernandez is quoted as saying by Metro: “I think I will be a little bit more excited than my team-mates to be back at Old Trafford.

“To start the season with my new team there is important and I will be happy to be there.”

Manchester United are preparing for their second season under Jose Mourinho next term after they finished sixth and won the Europa League and EFL Cup last season.

The Red Devils are gearing up for a return to the Champions League after having missed out last season.
