Michael Owen feels that Manchester United are well-placed to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

The Red Devils struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League last term following Jose Mourinho’s appointment at the club in May 2016.

Manchester United did impress in the cup competitions however, as they secured glory in both the EFL Cup and Europa League to secure a return to the Champions League.

Mourinho will be hoping to lead his side to a Premier League title challenge next season as he looks to steer them to their first top-flight trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.

And former Red Devils striker Owen feels that Manchester United are looking like they will be capable of mounting a title challenge next season after they signed both Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku this summer.

Speaking in an interview with Metro, Owen said: “Overall, I think they’re in good shape.

“They’ve got their main bit of business done – if they can add one of two more faces Jose will be delighted but I wouldn’t say they’re in desperate need for anything right now.”

Manchester United secured their return to the Champions League by beating Ajax 2-0 in the Europa League final in Stockholm back in May.
