Man United ready to try and sign proven 28-year-old for more than £40m – report
Manchester United are ready to reignite their interest in signing Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, say reports
Manchester United are ready to reignite their interest in signing Nemanja Matic from Chelsea this summer but are aware they will have to part with a big transfer fee to land the Serbian, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent is reporting that the Red Devils are set to ramp up their efforts to try and land Matic this summer after failing to secure a deal to sign midfielder Eric Dier from Tottenham.
The same story says Jose Mourinho sees bringing in a new defensive midfielder as the Red Devils’ remaining priority in the transfer window as he looks to prepare his team for next season.
The article also suggests that Manchester United’s reported pursuit of Matic could be greatly helped by the fact that the midfielder wants to move to Old Trafford above anywhere else this summer.
Matic’s future at Chelsea has been thrown into doubt after the Blues moved quickly to bring in midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco earlier this month.
The Red Devils had also been keen on signing Dier from Tottenham, but according to the same article, they found Spurs impossible to deal with as they tried to sign the England international.
