Manager sends message to Man United about signing top 28-year-old
Luciano Spalletti insists that Ivan Perisic remains focused on Inter Milan despite Manchester United's interest in signing him
Luciano Spalletti has insisted that Ivan Perisic will remain an Inter Milan player until Manchester United match the Italian club’s asking price.
The 28-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
The Red Devils have so far only been able to sign defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton as Mourinho prepares for his second campaign at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will be able to reach an agreement with Inter Milan for the transfer of Perisic this summer.
However, Inter Milan boss Spalletti insists that Perisic is completely focused on the task at hand with the Italian club.
Spalletti is quoted as saying by Metro: “From my point of view the talk is very simple – Ivan is an important player for me, then you have to ask him how he is experiencing this interest from Manchester United.
“But at the same time, he signed a contract which he must respect. Then, if Inter were to accept a certain kind of request, we would get an equally important player. For now things are going right.”
Manchester United are looking to further bolster their squad this summer as Mourinho prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
The Red Devils finished sixth and won the Europa League and EFL Cup last term.
