Romelu Lukaku sends message to Man United fans about Jose Mourinho
The new Manchester United signing discusses Jose Mourinho's impact on his career despite moving to Old Trafford a matter of weeks ago
Romelu Lukaku has claimed that Jose Mourinho has already made the Manchester United signing a better player.
The Red Devils made the Belgium international became Manchester United’s second summer signing after the 24-year-old completed a £75m switch to Old Trafford from Everton earlier this month.
Lukaku will be tasked with filling the void left by former club captain Wayne Rooney and Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Manchester United side next season.
The Belgian forward previously worked under Mourinho during the manager’s spell in charge of Chelsea but the Portuguese coach sanctioned the sale of Lukaku to Everton in 2014 after failing to guarantee the centre-forward regular first-team football.
However, Lukaku believes the Manchester United boss has already had a positive impact on the £75m signing despite the pair reuniting less than a fortnight ago.
“He knows what I can bring to the team and he’s someone who is pushing me. I push myself too but he makes me a better player. I think I learned a lot from him in the last week and I’m glad I can work with him,” Lukaku told Evening Standard.
Lukaku scored his first Manchester United goal in a pre-season game against Real Salt Lake City earlier this week.
The Belgium star netted 24 times in 36 games in the Premier League last season to finish as Everton’s top goal-scorer.
