Insider delivers latest update on Man United’s bid to sign 23-year-old
Kaveh Solhekol suggests that Tottenham do not want to sell Eric Dier to Manchester United this summer
Manchester United are still interested in signing Eric Dier from Tottenham this summer but there is yet to be any official confirmation of a bid, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Sky Sports News reporter has confirmed reports that the Red Devils are indeed interested in signing the England midfielder from Spurs this summer.
However, Solhekol did not confirm claims that Manchester United have actually made a £40m bid for Dier, as has been reported in recent days.
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for a new defensive midfielder this summer, but the Red Devils have only signed Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku so far.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on Monday morning, Solhekol said: “Let’s go to Manchester United. They’ve already signed Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku.
“They are now looking for a defensive midfielder. Could that man be Eric Dier? Now, we were told that they had made a £40m bid for him, but that has not been confirmed by United or Spurs.
“Tottenham are in a very strong position on this one. They don’t want to sell and Dier signed a new five-year contract last September.”
Manchester United are preparing for a return to the Champions League next after the Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League but won the Europa League last term.
Jose Mourinho led the Red Devils to a trophy double last term as they won both the Europa League and EFL Cup, but Manchester United will be hoping for an improvement in the Premier League.
