Man United to finally wrap up third signing for £40m in coming days – report
Manchester United are set to finally wrap up a deal to sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea in the coming days, say reports
Manchester United are set to finally complete the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea as Jose Mourinho looks set to land his third new player of the summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is claiming that the deal for Matic to swap Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford is now on the brink of completion and that the £40m move could go through this week.
Matic has been strongly linked with Manchester United this summer, speculation which has heightened since Chelsea completed a deal to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.
The player did not travel with the rest of the Chelsea squad for their pre-season tour, and it appears that he is now closing in on a move to Manchester United.
The same report says Chelsea have given the green light for Matic to move to Old Trafford, despite the transfer looking set to strengthen one of their direct rivals for the title next season.
The story also says that although Juventus were also thought to be interested, the Italian side did not match Chelsea’s asking price.
Manchester United have signed Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku so far this summer as the Red Devils prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.
