Renato Sanches is being linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United but he was not on their original list of targets, according to Kaveh Solhekol.

The Sky Sports News reporter says that the Red Devils are possibly interested in signing the 19-year-old Portugal star from Bayern Munich but he was not on the shortlist drawn up by Jose Mourinho.

Solhekol also says that Bayern Munich would be willing to let Sanches leave the club for a price of around £42m this summer, though it remains to be seen whether there is anything concrete behind the transfer reports.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Monday morning, Solhekol said: “Another player who’s been linked with Manchester United is Renato Sanches, who is at Bayern Munich at the moment.

“We’re told he was not on their original list [of transfer targets].

“He’s only 19 and he’s been told he can leave Bayern for £42m.

“He won the award for the best young player at last summer’s Euros and he has the same agent as Jose Mourinho – Jorge Mendes.”

Manchester United are thought to be on the lookout for their third signing of the summer after the Red Devils tied up deals to land both defender Victor Lindelof and striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Red Devils are gearing up for a return to the Champions League next season after they finished sixth in the Premier League but sealed their place in Europe’s elite club competition by beating Ajax in the Europa League final.
